Pre-Kickers (U4)

Program Description

Pre Kickers (U4) is the youngest program Pomperaug Soccer Club offers and is usually the first time a young child is introduced to the sport. The focus of this program is to introduce the game and simply make it fun. The program is designed to help players discover the game of soccer through the use of fun drills and games. No experience necessary for parents or kids! U4 has separate programs for boys and girls and play is in small practice areas, generally 3 vs. 3, no score kept, with frequent breaks. We use small practice goals with no goalkeepers and a size 3 ball. Sessions are once a week on Saturday mornings from 9:00 to 10:00 AM (subject to change), with roughly 30 minutes of practice and 30 minutes game time.

Basic Skills and Concepts Learned During Pre-Kickers

  • Dribbling and Kicking
  • No using hands
  • Kick with the inside and top of the foot (where the laces are) not with toes.
  • Basic Moves

Coaching

We encourage parents to volunteer to coach or assistant coach, and no experience is required! This is a great way to learn about the game! A professional coach plans each session and demonstrates the day's drills, so no preparation or knowledge is required.
